George Whitesides

GEORGE WHITESIDES began his career as a professor at MIT, and is now the Woodford
L. and Ann A. Flowers University Professor at Harvard University. His current
research interests include physical and organic chemistry, materials science, biophysics,
water, self-assembly, complexity and simplicity, origin of life, dissipative
systems, affordable diagnostics, and soft robotics. He is one of the country’s most
cited chemists, and also co-founded the rare disease drugmaker Genzyme and
about a dozen other companies.
