Intel Buys NVP-backed Silicon Hive

Santa Clara, CA-based Intel has acquired Silicon Hive, a developer of programmable parallel processor technology based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, according to an announcement today. Silicon Hive was spun out by Philips Electronics in 2007 with help from San Mateo, CA-based New Venture Partners. The company already had a close technology collaboration with Intel, which had licensed the startup’s technology for its Atom processors. The company raised venture backing from New Venture Partners, TVM Capital, and Intel Capital. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
