$89.6M More for Brightsource

Brightsource Energy, the Oakland, CA, company constructing a large solar thermal plant in Ivanpah in California’s Mojave Desert, has raised $89.55 million in new equity-based financing in a round that could reach $100 million, according to a regulatory filing. Brightsource did not immediately reply to a request for comment on the sources of the round. Last October, Brightsource said that NRG Solar, a subsidiary of Princeton, NJ-based NRG Energy (NYSE: NRG), would be the lead investor in the Ivanpah project, contributing up to $300 million.
