Calisolar Pulls In $3M

Sunnyvale, CA-based solar manufacturer Calisolar has raised $3 million out of a potential $5 million in a funding round involving debt, options, and securities, according to a December 2 regulatory filing. Calisolar is a vertically integrated manufacturer that makes raw silicon into solar cells.  It’s gone back to the fundraising well frequently in the last three years: records show a $51.9 million round in October 2008, a $60 million round in June 2009, a $20 million round in February 2010, and a $15 million round in July 2010. Past investors include Advanced Technology Ventures, Globespan Capital Partners, Good Energies, Hudson Clean Energy Partners, Ventures West, and Yaletown Venture Partners.
