Sacca Closes $8.5M Fund
Chris Sacca, the former head of special initiatives at Google who has been active as a Silicon Valley “super angel,” has announced the kickoff of a new $8.5 million startup investing fund at his firm Lowercase Capital. Sacca’s previous investments have included Bit.ly, Gowalla, Photobucket, Poll Everywhere, Posterous, and Twitter. Sacca told VentureWire that the limited partners in the new fund include unnamed venture firms, institutions, and wealthy individuals, and that the fund was oversubscribed (Sacca had initially targeted a $6 million close). “Thanks to all of our investors who entrusted their money to a guy who dresses like a mugged rodeo clown, and to our fine lawyers who reassured me I could get this done without having to shave or tuck in my shirt,” Sacca writes in his announcement of the fund’s closing.
