Angels Put $1.2M into Thumbtack, a San Francisco-based startup building an online directory of vetted service professionals, announced June 10 that it has collected $1.2 million in funding from what it called an “all-star cast” of Silicon Valley angel investors. Mark Britto of Amazon, Jason Calacanis of Mahalo, Mark Goines of Intuit and Mint, and Joshua Schachter of Delicious were among those ponying up. Thumbtack says it will use the money to hire more staffers, add features, and expand its Personal Concierge Service, which can help users find professional help within 24 hours of placing a request.
