CLSA Hires an “Ambassador” to the Life Sciences Community

Xconomy San Diego —

The California Life Sciences Association (CLSA) has named Holly Smithson as a senior vice president of business strategy and development, saying she will act as an ambassador for CLSA to the life sciences community, according to a recent statement.

Smithson, who is based in San Diego, was previously working as a strategic consultant for non-profits and fast-growing companies. Before that, she was the president and COO of CleanTech San Diego, a cleantech industry association. The CLSA was formed earlier this year by the merger of the San Francisco-based Bay Area Bioscience Association (BayBio) and the San Diego-based California Healthcare Institute (CHI). It serves more than 750 life sciences organizations.
