The Procopio law firm has organized a cleantech and environmental “Breakfast Club” to examine the implementation of UC San Diego’s renewable energy “microgrid,” and its relationship to the conventional grid. This microgrid has captured the attention of industry leaders around the country; for example, Forbes magazine recently highlighted the importance of the smartgrid as a way for the electric utility industry to increase efficiency, security and sustainability. The Forbes article says: “While there are projects, proposals and partial trials aplenty around the U.S., the ARPANET moment for the electrinet is arguably at University of California at San Diego, where the 40-megawatt campus is the first fully operational smart microgrid.” Optional UCSD smartgrid tour begins after breakfast club. Attendance is free, but please RSVP by Oct. 7 with Brittany Lewis at (619) 525-3818 or brittany.lewis@procopio.com
