United Neuroscience Names Ajay Verma Chief Medical Officer

Xconomy New York —

Alzheimer’s disease drug developer United Neuroscience has named Ajay Verma the company’s new chief medical officer. Verma comes to New York-based United Neuroscience from Biogen (NASDAQ: BIIB), where his work included overseeing early clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease drug candidates. Before Biogen, Verma held positions at Merck (NYSE: MRK) and Novartis (NYSE: NVS).

Verma’s appointment follows United Neuroscience’s recent hire of PJ Chen as a vice president of clinical development and president of the company’s Taiwan location. Chen joined the company from contract drug research firm PPD, where he was head of North Asia clinical management.
