Agenda Up for NY Venture Challenge April 25: Building Big Cos to Last

It is high time that New York responded to doubters who question how long its latest tech boom will last. So we are giving the city’s innovation and venture community the chance to speak their minds on April 25 about growing local companies that endure.

The formal program for New York’s Venture Challenge, to be held at the AppNexus headquarters on West 23rd Street, starts at 9:30 a.m. and will run until noon with a networking reception to follow. Registration information and a detailed agenda can be found here.

As New York keeps making noise about its startups and plans to train more homegrown tech talent, the discussion must move beyond bright ideas. All niceties aside, the city needs to figure out if its current innovation movement is another flash in the pan—or something more.

The forum’s lineup will feature founder-investor stories from three of New York’s hottest young companies, as well as special presentations from new startups and tech scene leaders. Our guests include:

—David Karp, founder and CEO of Tumblr; with Bijan Sabet, managing partner, Spark Capital; and Roger Ehrenberg, founder and managing partner, IA Ventures

—Neil Blumenthal, co-founder and co-CEO of Warby Parker; with Joel Cutler, co-founder and managing director, General Catalyst Partners

—Ben Wolin, co-founder and CEO of Everyday Health; with Habib Kairouz, managing partner, Rho Capital Partners

—Brian Cohen, chairman of New York Angels and CEO of

—Samantha Saturn, chief marketing officer for comiXology

—Nate Westheimer, executive director of NY Tech Meetup

—Fred Cook, co-founder and CEO of Moveline

April 25 will be New York’s chance to speak up about where its technology community goes from here. Again, get your tickets and we will see you there.
