Lux Capital Adds James Woolsey and Richard Foster

Xconomy New York —

Former CIA director James Woolsey and McKinsey & Company vet Richard Foster have joined New York-based Lux Capital as partners, the company said in a press release. Woolsey will be looking for investing opportunities in the energy sector, while Foster will focus on life sciences and healthcare IT. “Innovation in energy will be the primary challenge of our time—whether seen through the lens of national security or that of the environment,” said Woolsey in the statement. Woolsey held Presidential appointments in four administrations and served as director of the CIA from 1993 to 1995, and he has worked at Booz Allen Hamilton and VantagePoint Venture Partners in San Bruno, CA. Foster co-founded the healthcare and private equity practices at McKinsey. “Lux Capital thinks differently from most venture investors—a distinct edge in the investment business,” said Foster in the statement.
