Pulse — If you like your information densely packed, you’ll like this app. Its main claim to fame is the way it squeezes lots of story tiles (photos plus headlines) onto its main navigation screen; you can swipe each line on the home screen to the right or left, giving you access to the last 25 posts from each source. Pros: The “star” button lets you save stories to Instapaper, Evernote, and other services with a single tap. I love this feature and would like to see the other reader apps adopt it. Cons: There’s a fine line between density and clutter, and Pulse crosses it, in my opinion. And while it’s a matter of taste, I think white-on-black and grey-on-black designs are hard to read.
