Woburn, MA-based Gotuit, a maker of software for tagging online video content with metadata, was bought by Research Triangle Park, NC-based Digitalsmiths for an undisclosed sum, Digitalsmiths announced today. The North Carolina company said the acquisition strengthens its position in video metadata technology, which better enables search, discovery, recommendations, and targeted advertising surrounding online video content. Gotuit’s investors include Atlas Venture, Highland Capital Partners and the Kraft Group, all of whom will become shareholders in Digitalsmiths as a result of the transaction, according to the announcement.
