Judy M. Johncox has a well established track record evaluating research-based technology for commercialization and business development. She recently retired from Wayne State University. As the Director of Business Services at WSU’s TechTown, a business incubator and research technology park, she managers the strategic planning and business concept development programs. She was recently appointed to the role as Associate Vice President of the Office of Technology Commercialization where she leads and manages the University’s technology commercialization infrastructure to include the Technology Transfer and the Venture Development Offices.
Ms. Johncox joined Wayne State University in 2003 as Director of Venture Development where she worked with faculty in strategic planning and business concept development for creating WSU start-up companies, attracting necessary management and investment resources for start-up companies and creating comprehensive business services programs for community entrepreneurs and faculty interested in company formation
Previously Vice President at Indiana University-Advanced Research and Technology Institute, and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Intellectual Property Management at the University of Houston she managed technology transfer and university/industry relations at both universities. She consults with Japanese organizations on technology transfer and business start-up issues. Ms. Johncox holds a M.A. degree in Organizational Communication from Western Michigan University and a B.A. degree from Eastern Michigan University.
