Jay Bayne

Jay Bayne received his B.Sc (70), M.Sc.(71), and Ph.D. (76) degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He was Professor of Computer Science at California Polytechnic State University from 1973-1984.

In 1976 he founded Protocol Solutions, Inc., a boutique systems engineering company, which he sold in 1985. From 1985-1998 he held VP Technology positions for global engineering companies (Combustion Engineering, Bailey Controls, ABB) where he was responsible for the design and application of high-assurance, real-time distributed control systems for automation of a wide range of industrial processes. From 1998-2002 he was CTO of the Controls Group of Johnson Controls, Inc. From 2007-2016 he was Executive Director of the Milwaukee Institute, Inc.

Dr. Bayne is a member of the statewide Wisconsin Technology Council (WTC), an outside Executive Director of Mason Wells, a Research Professor at Marquette University, and Board member of several regional technology companies. He has published extensively on the science and technology of interactive real-time systems and cybernetics and their application to the governance of cyberphysical systems (CPS) for which he has multiple patents.
